Alliance Shield X is an application that allows you to manage business devices remotely. The app is designed to be used by companies, although it can also be used by individuals for the same purpose. The app is only compatible with Samsung Knox-enabled devices, allowing an enterprise's devices to be managed completely remotely.

Alliance Shield App Manager is designed for companies who issue devices to their employees, or those who authorize gadgets to access company networks. In cybersecurity, this is included in an aspect called Endpoint Detection and Response, which aims to secure the end-user devices that connect to a network, preventing malware and unauthorized changes from taking place. It supports both Android and Apple iOS devices.

With a simple black-and-red interface, it’s easy to pick up the features available on this platform. Some of its most prominent capabilities include the Red Shield, which effectively blocks all Over The Air (OTA) updates without the right authorization. Its Secure Charge feature allows your end-users to charge devices and blocks the USB-data transfer, which is useful when charging devices via PCs or laptops.

With an 8.5 MB file size, it won’t be disruptive wherever you install it. However, it’s quite technical and non-IT users might find it difficult to set up. As a free tool, expect restrictions in terms of being configurable. The Red Shield blocks all OTA transactions like Google Account Sync or Apple iCloud. Also, Samsung users reported being unable to use this app unless they get their devices rooted.

The Shield supports 6 additional languages outside of English: French, German, Russian, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, & Arabic. The shield uses your default device language if supported.
